The Local Indian Education Committee (LIEC) is comprised of a group of caregivers such as: parents, grandparents, and guardians of American Indian children. In addition, one high school student representative, one teacher representative, and one LEA representative (local education agency) participate. The LIEC meets six times over the course of the school year. The committee serves as a crucial communication link between the American Indian community and Bemidji Area Schools.
